Professor Jun Yang is the Dean of Nanyang Business School, NTU Singapore, where she holds the President's Chair in Finance. She is the Academic Director of the Financial Management Association (FMA), a Senior Fellow of the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), a Council Member of the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS), a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).
Her research lies at the intersection of corporate finance, corporate governance, and financial technology, with influential contributions on executive compensation, peer benchmarking, and board independence. Her work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and Management Science, and has been widely featured in major international media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Bloomberg.
She holds PhDs from Washington University in St. Louis and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Tsinghua University.
Activities
The 18th Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS) Conference was held at Nanyang Business School, NTU Singapore, from 7–10 June 2026. Marking its first time being hosted in Asia, the conference brought together globally renowned sustainability scholars and emerging PhD researchers from leading universities around the world.
On the opening day, Prof Jun Yang, Dean of Nanyang Business School, delivered the welcome address and joined H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, and Ms Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer of CDL, to share insights during a panel discussion on “Steering Global Transition from the Heart of ASEAN.”
On 30 May 2026, Prof Jun Yang, Dean of Nanyang Business School, delivered the welcome address at the Nanyang Business School 30th Anniversary (NBS30) Gala Dinner, held at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore. Over 750 guests gathered to celebrate this important milestone, including ministers, NTU leadership, Singapore’s business leaders, NBS facuty, staff, students and alumni from around the world.
The celebration reflected three decades of growth, impact, and partnership, and reaffirmed NBS’s commitment to developing future-ready leaders and advancing knowledge for business and society.
On 30 May 2026, NTU Singapore launched the Global Institute of Finance, Technology, and Society (GIFTS), a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of AI, finance, technology, and society. As a member of GIFTS Steering Committee, Prof Jun Yang attended the launch ceremony.
Jointly founded by NTU Nanyang Business School and College of Computing and Data Science, GIFTS aims to build research leadership in areas where AI, markets, institutions and society increasingly interact. The event was officiated by Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, Prof. Ho Teck Hua (NTU President), Prof Christian Wolfrum (NTU Deputy President & Provost), Prof Thomas Sargent (Nobel Laureate 2011'), Prof Jun Yang (Dean of Nanyang Business School ), Prof Will Cong (Founding Director of GIFTS), and Prof Tao Dacheng (Assoc Director of GIFTS).
On Mar 17, 2026, Prof Jun Yang had a dialogue with Prof Michael W. Faulkender, former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Singapore.
The session provided in-depth insights into the U.S. macroeconomic outlook and the global implications of Trump-era policies. Where participants built on one another’s perspectives and explored the strategic implications for global markets and business leadership. Designed for Nanyang Business School senior alumni leaders, this closed-door session offered a unique opportunity for candid exchange among senior executives navigating heightened policy and geopolitical uncertainty.
On 13 Nov 2025, Prof Jun Yang hosted a fireside chat with Mr Philip Yeo on “Leadership in a Fragmented World”.
Mr Philip Yeo, a key architect of Singapore’s economic transformation over more than five decades, has shaped national development through his leadership roles at the Economic Development Board (EDB), A*STAR, and SPRING Singapore—reflecting a career closely intertwined with Singapore’s growth story of resilience, adaptability, and innovation.
In the fireside chat, he shared candid reflections on leadership in times of uncertainty, including the importance of making bold decisions, the role of mentorship in nurturing future leaders, and what resilience and adaptability mean in today’s fragmented global environment.
