Biography
Professor Jun Yang is the Dean of Nanyang Business School, NTU Singapore, where she holds the President's Chair in Finance. She is the Academic Director of the Financial Management Association (FMA), a Senior Fellow of the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), a Council Member of the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS), a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).
An internationally renowned scholar in corporate finance, corporate governance, executive compensation, and FinTech, Professor Yang has made significant contributions to the understanding of managerial incentives, board effectiveness, and financial innovation. Her research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and Management Science, and has been featured by major international media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Bloomberg.
Professor Jun Yang is particularly recognized for her influential work on executive compensation and peer benchmarking, which has shaped understanding of opportunistic managerial behavior and corporate governance practices. Her more recent research examines the challenges of director independence and board oversight, shedding light on previously overlooked governance risks and their implications for corporate accountability.
Prior to joining NTU as Dean of Nanyang Business School in July 2024, Professor Jun Yang served as Chair of the Department of Finance, Director of the Institute for Corporate Governance, and Conrad Prebys Professor of Finance at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Throughout her academic career, she has received numerous research awards and has established herself as a respected leader in both scholarship and academic administration.
Professor Jun Yang holds a PhD in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis and a PhD in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She earned her Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems and Bachelor’s Degrees in Management Information Systems (summa cum laude) and Electronic & Computer Technology, Tsinghua University.
